Brad Roynon

Brad Roynon

Brad became Chief Executive of Southampton City Council in 2001. Previously he was Chief Executive of Carmarthenshire County Council, a unitary authority in West Wales, and Chief Executive of East Hampshire District Council. He had moved there from the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in 1988, where he had been in charge of Corporate Policy and Performance.

His origins are in Wimbledon where he was brought up under the shadow of the famous tennis courts. He went to Westminster College in London and from there he went into the NHS as an internal management adviser prior to joining local government.

Brad has a drive to use good management approaches to deliver better public services, which is particularly relevant to his role in Southampton, where he also lives.

Bob Deans

Bob Deans

Bob joined Southampton City PCT in October 2008. He was previously Deputy Chief Executive at West Kent PCT, which is of one of the largest PCTs in the country. Bob started his career as a clinical nurse and worked in the area of learning disabilities before moving into general management. Bob has expertise in the acute sector, ambulance, Practice Based Commissioning, and mental health commissioning and has over 15 years of senior Board level experience.

Jonathan Morris

Jonathan Morris

Jonathan is Managing Director of WSX Enterprise Limited a private company delivering business support services, in particular contracting with the SW and SE RDAs to deliver Business Link services in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset.

Jonathan worked in corporate finance and banking and obtained a MBA before moving across into work in various roles at the margin of public and private sectors in Bristol, North Somerset, Hampshire and Dorset. This included senior roles at the Training and Enterprise Council in Bristol, North Somerset Unitary Council, the Learning and Skills Council in Hampshire/Isle of Wight and now at Business Link. Experience has included finance, marketing, human resources, business advice and support, economic development and regeneration functions.

Jonathan lives in the New Forest and has completed the Southampton Common Purpose programme. This has left him with a fondness for the city and real confidence in the potential of the local business and wider community.

Jo Ash

Jo Ash has been Chief Executive of Southampton Voluntary Services since 1992. SVS provides independent advice and support for the local voluntary sector on all aspects of volunteering and organisational development and has a representational role in strategic partnerships on behalf of the over 400 community and voluntary organisations in membership.

In additional to its voluntary sector support role SVS also provides high quality services directly to local people including currently SVS Family Projects, Shopmobility Service, Street Homeless Prevention team , Young Carers project , Safe in Sound drugs awareness work as well as MORPH an ex users self help project

Jo has been a senior manager and consultant in the voluntary sector for 30 years and has worked on issues including housing and homelessness, advice services for disabled people, poverty, women and health. She has been a member of national voluntary sector working parties on Funding, Financial management, Womens issues and Constitutional change and is a board member of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations

Jo has a BA (Hons) in Social Studies and an MA in State Policy and Social Change. She is also an accredited practice teacher for Social work. In a voluntary capacity Jo is Vice Chair of a local neighbourhood group. For nine years she was a Non Executive Director of Southampton City Primary Care Trust.

A Sotonian by birth, Jo has also lived in Norwich and Leeds but returned to Southampton where she now lives happily with her family who all support the Saints

Martin Pryor

Martin Pryor

Martin took on responsibility for the delivery of Jobcentre Plus services, in Hampshire & the Isle of Wight, in April 2006. Previously he worked in the Department for Work and Pensions, as a Programme Manager, implementing the Government’s Welfare Reform agenda across the UK.

He has 36 years experience of developing employment and skills policy and operational delivery, including time in the Department for Employment and Skills; the Manpower Services Commission; the Training Agency (including time delivering a programme designed to develop Vocational Education in schools) and 2 years as a Director of Training in the South London Training & Enterprise Council.

Martin has returned to the south coast after spending 12 years living and working in Sheffield. He is fully committed to ‘joined up’ public service, “I passionately believe we, in the partnership, have a golden opportunity to build on our achievements and develop a more integrated and effective employment and skills service for our citizens and employers in Southampton.”

Matthew Greening

Matt Greening

I was born in Staffordshire in 1961 and I moved to Hampshire in 1982 to join the Constabulary. I have worked across the county but I have always has a particular love for working in Southampton. I first worked here in 1985 and since then I have returned to the city many times. I was delighted to return again in December 2007 to command the policing of the city.

I have immense pride in my staff who work for the people of Southampton and my commitment is to make sure that the policing we deliver in the city makes the people of Southampton feel safe and feel proud of their police service. We can deliver that service best if we do it in partnership with other agencies and with the community so I take my role on the Southampton Partnership very seriously.

Angela Alderman

Angela Alderman

Angela is one of the thirteen Locality Manager positions within GOSE taking responsibility for the geographical areas of Southampton, Winchester and Eastleigh. She is responsible for the strategic coordination of the policies and initiatives of GOSE sponsor Departments by working with key stakeholders including Local Authorities, voluntary organisations, the business community and other public sector bodies including the South East Public Health Team.

Angela acts as a critical friend and broker between partners when necessary to ensure the delivery of the Government’s policies and PSA targets at the regional and local level, as well as contributing to GOSE objectives for ‘joining up’ policies more generally. She is currently engaged in negotiating the Local Area Agreement for Southampton.

Henry Pavey

Henry Pavey

As the Strategic Partnerships Manager within Southampton City Council, I am responsible for the development and support of appropriate, effective, and vibrant strategic partnerships which will secure the delivery of agreed economic, social and environmental outcomes for the benefit of all those who live, visit and work in the city. I have worked for SCC since 1991 in a variety of roles including unitary status case-making and implementation; organisational development/change agent within the direct service organisation; and community regeneration including SRB6 bid development. In 2001, I was responsible for developing and launching the Southampton Partnership as a condition of receiving Neighbourhood Renewal Funding. Academically I have a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and a Diploma in Training Management to bring to my work.

Before 1991, I spent 13 years in The Army where I was a communications sergeant in the Royal Artillery. I live in Woolston, married to a nurse and have a teenage daughter, and can usually be spotted at weekends riding my Harley-Davidson through the streets of Southampton or further afield.
